Bhojpuria has song for every season and every mood. Kajari is another gem of that treasure. The word Kajri is a derived from word Kajal – meaning Black. Similar to Thumari and chaiti , Kajari too has its ancestry in Uttar Pradesh. Although Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh is thought to be the place of origin of the Kajari but now a day Kajari is sung in a large region of India. Kajari is season based music. When the black monsoon clouds bring relief and great joy with them to the land of burning hot summers people start to sing out Kajari loudly. Means it’s totally a soft romantic numbers about love, affection and romantic weather. It is one of the most popular folk music forms in India and is also beautifully adopted by several by classical and semi classical musicians. So enjoy some kajari here.
